Would be good if you named a few.
Nonetheless….most myths have some geographical and historical basis in fact.
The people who wrote them were dramatizing and embellishing actual wars and plagues and floods etc…
they were primitive minded and called these things ‘acts of god’ etc…
If you accept the Bible as ‘true’ because of historical evidence, then you must also accept the Vedas, the Mabinogion, The Egyptian Book Of The Dead, Enuma Elish etc etc..
What story?
Please tell me which are true. I’m having trouble finding one…
And don’t say talking snakes or donkeys.
If that ever happens, I’ll get back to you on that.
wtim68:
This is about STORIES, not historical accuracy (in the ways you’re talking about). We are saying Noah’s Ark is false, not the country of Egypt.
Also, the lack of archaeological evidence to disprove the Bible means nothing. It is up to the claimer to support with evidence, not the disclaimer. You need evidence yourself before you can say that there’s no evidence against.
Name 1.
What bible story is actually true?
None..
how do you feel when millions of christians convert to islam ?
does that make the bible untrue ?

Could you try to be a little vaguer in your question, or is that because you got nothing?
Okay, pay attention: any Bible stories ‘found to be true’ are about real people and places. Real people and places in works of fiction do not lend credence to the fictional stuff.
more and more? since when were ANY bible stories true?
The same way that I view all such claims made by loony fundys who claim that, and yet, NEVER offer any PROOF of their claims.
"What is asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence."

ha ha hah ha
my favorites are how bats are birds, the sun revolves around the earth, it’s okay to kill your children
Man was created after the plants. Gen.1:12, 26.
Man was created before the plants. Gen.2:5-9.
just tons of totally true stuff to boggle your mind!
I feel like laughing considering the very peculiar sense of "truth"and "fairness" I’ve observed from believers.
Par example, c’est fromage?
I wouldn’t know.
You mean like Noah’s ark, which has been "found" over 20 times in different places?
which ones….please elaborate, you have debunked your argument if you do not..
You didn’t even show evidence of one of these bible stories apparently being true! Next time, give proof. Then maybe you’ll get an answer.
From a historical perspective some biblical stories have a grain of truth but the authors have articulated them in a way that makes them seem supernatural and the work of God when in fact they were natural occurences such as localised floods, earthquakes etc.
Do you have any evidence to support that claim?
And by evidence I don’t mean hoaxes that have been proven wrong a dozen times such as Noah’s Ark on mount Ararat, or the chariot wheels at the bottom of the red sea.
Since when?
Because 2 millenia later, we found the foresenic evidence to show that is EXACTLY what happened.
Oh no!
wait…
As long as those don’t involve miracles I don’t see what that has to do with religion.
Such as? Sources?
Anyhow, I don’t believe the bible is fake, I just don’t believe it was divinely inspired. So it’s quite possible some of the mundane events actually happened. I mean, someone had to write it and I can’t imagine they made *everything* up. That would have been quite a feat.
You have got to be kidding, right? It has to be your preacher telling you this crap. The bible is the greatest book of fables ever written.
Well, I’ll let you know when that happens.
You should really back your statements up.
Name ONE.
How sad are the above’s answers … reasoning and logic? lol
A couple things to consider:
The Bible has proven itself historically accurate. No historical revelations disprove the Bible’s account of history. New historical findings continue to verify the accuracy of the Bible’s historical basis.
The Bible has proven to be archaeologically accurate. No archaeological evidence has ever been unearthed that disproves the Bible’s account of civilizations and cultures that have existed since the beginning of man’s life on earth.
The lives and events recorded in the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments – that are now vindicated by the finds of history, archaeology and paleontology – leave no doubt that the skeptics of years gone by were totally wrong in assigning the Scriptures to the trash-pile of ancient mythology!
Do some research, it’s fewer and fewer. Saul and David have bitten the dust, just possibly tribal leaders. And it seems there never was a united kingdom of Judea and Israel. Go to the Tel Aviv university archeology site.
Edit: above, obviously your reading of archaeology ended in the 1980s. Re-examination of old evidence has now produced a new picture and the bible seems less and less accurate.
ditto,,,everything said above
But "more and more" bible stories aren’t shown to be true. It’s just another hysterical christian lie that goes around – like the current republican lies we hear all day long.
There has been some archeology which has identified some of the towns probably mentioned in the bible – beyond that the bible is just as thin as tissue paper. For example… there is not one shred of actual evidence that Jesus ever lived at all.
Why people insist on killing each other over the bible is anybody guess.
And all the prophecies that have, are, and will continue to be fulfilled.
I’m not an atheist but please tell me which stories are found to be true. To believe something you read is not the same as it being true.
well, if and when that ever happened, id feel, wow thats one of the truths
but, as more and more are being disproven, im not really going to experience that am i
how do beleivers feel when more and more are found to be false or misinterprited?
Examples?
How many have HARD evidence that they’re true? HARD evidence. I see none. I see people brainwashing their own mind to believe something quite ridiculous.
There’s pearls under the ocean, pearls have a history with mermaids. Do you now believe in mermaids because there’s such things as pearls?
THAT is how low an atheist has to stoop to believe in bible stories.
can you name first 20, or post some links?
i’m a christian who would like to help you out..
you neeed to give some example or you will die out here in this answers world confronting atheists who want proof.
noah and the flood– not PPROVEN, because it happened so long ago, but there are MULTIPLE religions and cultures all over the world with the same story atbout a big flood to tell.. all dating back to the same time period (i had to study this for world religions and how ‘we’re all just one big happy family’)
jesus– no one has ‘proved’ he was God, but they’ve proved he existed.. and that he rose from the dead.. (something based on the carbon in his death rags, and the experience that they wnet through based on dating and light tests)
moses and the freeing of the egyption slaves– look on pyramid walls.. those give the whole story in words PLUSS pictures!
ok, i’m not going to keep going, this was just to get u motivated! you can research these things you know! look at them in your library, read online documents, watch the HISTORY CHANNEL, etc
enlighten me please, where are you finding this truth and from what?
Not one person who has posted in this forum in favour of the legitimacy of the Bible has given even a single cited source for evidence.
That’s extremely poor.
