I don’t know much about this subject, so excuse me…
But I have created a story that involves fairy tale characters (such as Alice, Snow White, Aurora etc.) and I wanted to know are there any copyrights on these stories?
Could I publish my story with these characters without any hassle, or is it more to this?
Am I even not allowed to do this?

For Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, no copyright: they were created by the French writer Charles Perrault in the 17th C.
There isn’t any copyright on Alice (I assume in Wonderland) as the book is old, the same goes for any traditional stories like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc. If it’s Grimm borthers or Hans Christian Anderson you’re in the free.
This is why Disney chose those characters, so they didn’t have to pay for them.
