its obvious that the vast majority of them are parables trying to teach morals and obedience. honestly. did huge strong walls collapse because horns marched around them? was there a big flood that killed everyone but like 5 people on the planet? did a woman really turn to a pillar or salt?

of course there are places in the bible where the stories are to be taken literal but the places in the bible that have symbolic meanings are a symbol of something literal that takes place. those stories you mention should be taken as literal stories.

As you have discovered no one can prove it to you and you will never understand the Bible through your own wisdom. This is impossible because you need to see the Word through the eyes of God Himself who inspired people to write it.
Can’t do that unless you have a relation with Him where He will speak to you and show you what you ask.
Secondly if you study History or look up recent finds, you’ll discover many factual places of Biblical Events.
By the way, there is no other record on Earth to prove how the Judicial System is composed of apart from the Bible. It set out laws and regulations before any other records were formed.
If you study the 10 commandments you’ll see its precedence and then Leviticus sets out so many Laws and procedure’s that we abide by in Society.
These records existed beforehand and then set out the Law and the Commands.

Because the Bible is supposed to be the unerring word of God. If it weren’t meant to be taken literally, then the God behind it shouldn’t be taken literally. I mean, what kinda religion is based a book filled with silly stories…
